Apart from being Manoel de Oliveira’s first fiction feature film, Aniki Bobó has become the director’s most loved and popular film, especially due to the coming-of-age story adapted from João Rodrigues de Freitas’ “Os Meninos Milionários” and the child actors chosen to star in it. Eduardinho is the fearless leader to the group of kids that spend their day-to-day between school and the streets near Ribeira, Carlinhos is blond and sensitive; both vie for Teresinha’s attention, the only girl among the kids.
