WaqWaq Kingdom is a Japanese tribal bass duo, consisting of Kiki Hitomi - singer and songwriter of projects such as King Midas Sound, Black Chow, Dokkebi Q or NoinoNoinoNoino - and Shigeru Ishihara, breakcore- gameboy legend under the name DJ Scotch Egg. Fusing traditional Japanese Minyo style with Jamaican dancehall, footwork, dub, techno, tribal polyrhythms and Super Nintendo songs, their sound is a powerful and vibrant blend of different genres and eras, combined with lyrics and visuals influenced by Shinto mythology and the Japanese Matsuri festivals, in honour of the local gods "Kami sama".
