Porto of my Childhood is an impossible documentary: its subject is time, its object is a city that no longer exists and, as such, cannot be filmed, and its script is what remains of the memory. A portrait of Manoel de Oliveira in which Agustina Bessa-Luís has a special participation. Listed in the credits as "Dama Texto", she ironically synthesises a very significant part of the director's oeuvre, underlining many of the themes that marked her collaboration with Oliveira, in particular the dismantling of the Romantic imaginary and the simplistic polarisation between the angel-woman and demon-woman.
